Enable Password Sync to Entra ID for Imported End-User Accounts

Last updated: July 12, 2026

Background

This article provides a walkthrough on enabling password sync for end-user accounts imported from Active Directory or local sources, connecting them to the corresponding Entra ID account so that password resets apply to both simultaneously.

Pre-requisites

  • End-user accounts imported from Active Directory or a local source
  • Entra ID tenant connected to CyberQP
  • Entra ID accounts must be licensed to be automatically matched

Table of Contents

Enable Password Sync

  1. Navigate to the End User Accounts menu.

  2. Select the end-user accounts to enable password sync for. Select accounts individually or use the multi-select toggle to select all.

  3. Click the three-dot icon in the top row.

  4. Click Enable Password Sync

Review and Confirm Matches

CyberQP will automatically match imported Active Directory accounts to the corresponding Entra ID account based on display name and username.

NOTE: The Entra ID account must be licensed to be automatically matched.

  1. Review the auto-matched accounts.

  2. If a match is incorrect or not shown, correct it using one of the following options:

    • Click the Edit Match icon and select the desired end-user.
    • Click Match with M365 Account and select the desired end-user.
  3. Click Save

  4. Confirm the match by checking the Source column for the end-user — both the Active Directory and M365 integration icons should be visible.

NOTE: Password resets for matched end-users will now reset the password in both Active Directory and Entra ID simultaneously.
